Questions
Stowdesk is a cost-basis, inventory and margin ledger for eBay sellers handling thousands of trading card singles, raw or graded. If something here is not answered, ask — the answer usually belongs on this page.
Does it work with eBay?
Yes. Connect your account once and Stowdesk pulls in your orders, the fees and postage eBay actually charged, your payouts, and what you have listed. It writes one thing back — the tracking number, for a parcel you posted yourself rather than with an eBay label. It never creates, edits, reprices or ends a listing, and it never touches your stock. The permissions, by name.
Does it work with CardUploader?
Yes. Import the file CardUploader exports and the item's SKU is the same string on both sides, so a sale that arrives from eBay finds the item on your shelf with its cost already attached.
If you let CardUploader manage your eBay inventory, a listing carries one catalog code standing for a product and condition rather than naming the copy it holds. The sale then names the group, Stowdesk picks a copy and records on the sale that it did the picking. Items scanned before that group existed need their catalog code filled in once, on the Catalog SKUs page.
How the two fit together, including the one order of operations worth knowing about pricing.
Can I bring what I already have?
Yes. The Import a spreadsheet page reads a CSV with your columns in your order — a cost column can be called Cost, Cost basis, Paid or Purchase price. Two columns are required: the item's name and what it cost. It shows you what it understood before it writes anything.
What if I sell somewhere other than eBay?
You can record those sales, but nothing imports them automatically yet. Only eBay is connected. If most of your selling happens elsewhere, this will be more typing than it is worth today.
Do I have to sort my shelf a particular way?
No. Stowdesk gives every item an address on the way in, and it does not care what order the shelf is in — see how it compares to a sorted shelf.
Why did an item's location change from B001-A-04-15 to B001-A-04-09?
The first three parts are the address: box, row and section. They stay put. The last part is the item's fluid position, its place behind the divider, and Stowdesk counts it each time it shows it. Six items in front of it were pulled for orders, so it moved up six. A sale on its own does not move it, because the sold item still stands in front until it is pulled. New items go in at the back, so adding stock leaves older numbers alone.
What counts as an item?
One card on your shelf right now, with its own SKU. A graded copy and a raw copy of the same card are two items, because they are two things you can sell and each carries its own cost. Selling one gives the slot back. A sealed box or an unopened lot is one item until you open it and scan what was inside, at which point it becomes however many came out.
Is my data mine?
Yes, and the export is free on every plan and never withheld — not over your item limit, not after you cancel. It is the whole ledger as one JSON file, and it restores. See Privacy.
What happens if I go over my plan?
Adding new items stops. Everything else — reading, editing, printing, sales imports, and the export — carries on exactly as before. Nothing is hidden and nothing is deleted.
Is there an app?
No. Stowdesk is a website, and it works on a phone. The pull ticket and the packing slips are made to be printed.
Is it accounting software?
No. It is a record-keeping tool. It files nothing with anyone, calculates no tax, and knows no tax authority's rules. Every figure is arithmetic on what you entered. See Terms.
What does it cost?
There is a free plan that holds 250 and does not expire, and paid plans priced by how much you hold. Plans and pricing.
Who builds this?
A card seller. The store is Archive of Legends — on eBay since 2000, 654 positive reviews, 100% positive.
The rules in here come from running it. One SKU is one physical item, so a quantity above one is a defect rather than an item held twice. A lot keeps each item's own cost instead of averaging it across the box.
Still deciding
The free plan takes no payment details and does not expire, and a sample shelf loads in one press — sixty items filed across six sections, eight of them sold — so there is a filled ledger to read before you import anything of your own.
